The creative endeavour of Pip, Nancy and Rose Lawson, Mombasa Rose was founded in the early 2000s. As a proudly family owned business, we wanted to create a brand that reflected our passion for independent and uplifting design.
Over the years we’ve watched the fashion industry get faster and more disposable and this year we’ve decided it’s time to make a change.
We want to make and sell products that you’ll love for a lifetime not just a season.
We want to leave a smaller & less damaging footprint on the planet.
We want to slow down, create something more meaningful by designing and selling products that will have a positive impact.
We want to make more of our products in Australia.
Our focus is shifting to jewellery & accessories as these are products that we can make by hand in our Brisbane & Noosa studios. Throughout 2024 our styles may change but the heart of what we do and how we do it will remain the same.

Why We Love Mombasa Rose
Made in Queensland ~ The Dream
As part of our next chapter we are moving towards making all of our designs in Australia. Whilst this isn’t possible just yet we are committed to realising this dream by the end of 2024.
Our jewellery and accessories are made from stones, beads, findings and cloth from all over the world but the styles will be made in either our own Brisbane studio or by a local jeweller in Noosa, Queensland.
All of the products that we make in Australia will be clearly marked so that you know that you are supporting local makers and designers.
Giving Back
Whilst we donate to a number of different charities throughout the year we are proudest of our efforts in working with the following causes.
Don’t throw it away, fix it.
All faulty garments that we find in our warehouse or that are returned to us in an unused state are fixed by our in-house team. We then donate these garments along with any other products that are no longer saleable to a number of charities across Queensland.
Ladles of Love
This amazing organisation feeds the hungry in Cape Town, providing healthy food through a network of NPOs. Ladles of Love is about more than merely providing meals.
Médecins Sans Frontières
We make a yearly Christmas donation to Médecins Sans Frontières.
Handmade Jewellery
As passionate creatives we couldn't stop at just
designing clothing. A few years ago we introduced our range of handmade jewellery.
Using gemstones, sterling silver and other objects sourced
from around the globe, we hand make unique earrings, necklaces, bracelets and rings in our Noosa and Brisbane jewellery studios.
We have also developed a passion for the amazing Australian opal and through our Brother company Lawson Gems we have developed relationships with a number of independent Australian opal miners. We sell both beautiful jewellery created by the miners as well as our own designs featuring their unique stones.
